Accommodation and meal costs in the Disney World parks are really high.

Up to 4 times more expensive than our way...

"But", I can hear you saying, "isn't it better to stay on the Disney property?"

Better for whom? Let's address that issue head on.

Of course, it's a really cool concept to stay on property and Disney does a great job on the atmospherics. It has, well, the magical Disney cache.

Even though we are locals, my wife and I regularly make the five mile trek and stay in the various Disney hotels - doing research, keeping current.

Now understand my comments don't apply to the upper echelon of Disney hotels - like the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian and the Boardwalk.

I'm guessing you wouldn't be reading this page if you were intending to stay at one of those!

This advice is for the rest of us.

Those of us that have to make our dollars go as far as possible

So what do really get at the mid level and lower level Disney Hotels?

• Once you leave the really nifty themed lobby areas - frankly, the rooms might as well be low-end hotels. Just beds, bathroom, table and TV. Lately, some don't even have coffee makers. So whatever you need, it's spend, spend, spend. And believe me, if your family is anything like mine, you will be amazed at the opportunities to spend money.
  
  
• "But it's closer, right? We don't want to waste time getting to the parks" Disney World is big. Really big. About 45 square miles. Bigger than many cities. And the roads are not straight. The layout is beautiful, roads wind around wonderful landscaping features.
  
  
  And guess what? If you're in the mid or lower level hotels, even with the super efficient Disney transport system you will waste more time than if you stayed with us.

Time to think outside the box.

Well, outside the park anyway.

Cheap vacations using our villa rental homes.

OK, so I hate the word "cheap". Cheap is so... ...well, negative.

There is nothing negative about our beautiful vacation rental villa homes - just ask the 1000s of people who have spent fun-filled wonderful times in our villas and who have taken the time to write to tell us.

Certainly, the average family or group will need more than one hotel room, right?

Of course right! That's why our vacation villa rental homes will cost you much less.

Probably very much less.

So in that way, I suppose, they are cheap.

But let's be clear what they are not.

They are NOT old, run down, dirty, worn out houses in bad neighborhoods miles from the attractions. In that sense, our villas are definitely not cheap.

Cheap vacations start with our vacation rental villas.

To make a cheap vacation, we have to go right to the heart and slash the two biggest costs of a vacation:

Accommodation and food.

You need a cheap vacation

Now you may be thinking, "sounds great, but I'm looking for a cheap vacation"

Well hang on to your hats.

Depending on the season, you can rent the entire home...

...for less than the cost of one room in an average Disney hotel.

That's not a misprint.

For example a 4 bedroom villa with 8 or 10 people comfortably housed will be less than the cost of a hotel room with only 2 people. And all they have is a hotel room.

That means all this space and convenience, all this peace and quiet, all this comfort can be yours by renting a vacation villa home for as low as $13.00 per person per night.

So when I said our vacation villas are the foundation of your cheap vacation, I meant exactly that.

But that's by no means the end of the story. In fact, the savings are just beginning.

Cheap vacations need private heated pools.

Every one of our villa homes has a private heated pool, just for your use, just a couple of steps from your family room's sliding glass door. "That's really nice", you're probably thinking, "but what does this have to do with a cheap vacation?"

Well, we constantly hear guests complaining, "we can't get the kids out of the pool". Meaning, I suppose, they have brought park tickets and although the kids love to go to the parks [this big kid too, by the way] they adore the pool... ...which is free.

If you haven't discovered it yet, you soon will. Park tickets can be quite a hit to the vacation budget. And while we give the best legitimate discount, truth to tell, the park operators [especially Disney] do a terrific job in holding up prices.

[hot tip: be very carefully of low price tickets. Something is wrong. Either they are part of a time share sales pitch or some such or, well, you can guess... ]

Achieving the cheap Disney World vacation

So you won't get the same phenomenal savings on tickets as you got with our villas.

It gets worse: you can pay $40, $50 and even more, per person per day.

But [and it's a very big but] there are another 3 ways you can use your vacation villa rental to achieve your cheap vacation and cut down the bite the parks will take on your pocket book.

1. Make the pool a central part of the vacation. It's great fun and a wonderful antidote to rushing around everyday. We keep our pools at 87F year round. Sparkling in the bright Florida sunshine. All yours. Not shared. Use for as long as you like - at whatever time you like.
   
   Bottom line: you will not need as many days in the parks as you thought. Big savings.

2. Make the most of the days in the park. Buy your tickets in advance and be sure to make a plan.
   
   Start early. A lot of parks open before they say they do.
   
   Unless you are Superman/women, by midday you will be draggin'. That's the time to get back to the villa. Eat, rest, swim, change, but above all, recharge.
   
   Then head back to the parks. The parking is valid all day AND dollars-to-donuts you will be able to park right near the entrance, filling the gaps left by the people who have just left.
   
   [You know, the ones that didn't read this advice and jus' tried to slug it out. And failed.]
   
   You, however, are fed, watered and rested and ready for the second half of the day. You are re-energised and able to stay right to the end of a magical day in the Florida parks. Really, it's like having a second day free.
   
   Congratulations! You have just maximized the value of your day's park ticket and you have maximized the fun. Know what else? You have just minimized the money spent on park food.
   
   
   
   
3. Save money on food:
   
   Eat better, cheaper [but don't work hard]
   
   The parks make a big chunk of their money on food. After all you are captive. If the parks don't get your eating dollars, the hotels will.
   
   Food can be a major expense. And for the most part, eating out can be poor eating.
   
   But not if you stay in a villa.
   
   

Eat at home. Save lots. Eat better, too

Remember, all our villas have full-sized fully-equipped kitchens. Just eating breakfast in the villas is going to save a lot of money. Add lunches for a few days [such as coming back from the parks for the midday break and the days you spend by your pool] and the average family ... ... can save enough to pay for the villa

Shocked? Remember our villas are as low as $13.00 per person per night. Do you think eating one breakfast and one lunch in your villa will save $13.00 a day over eating out?

Youbetcha!

And a lot more.

Especially in the Disney parks where $13.00 will get you 4 sodas, maybe.

And getting supplies? Couldn't be easier. There are brand new full-size supermarkets and three Wal*Mart superstores [two brand new] in and around our villas [on our villa location map, the supermarkets and Wal*Marts are marked with yellow and blue dots respectively]

[hot tip: The supermarkets around here cater to rental villas. There are a wide variety of low-cost ready-prepared nutritious meals to finish "at home" in your villa. Minimum cost. Maximum savings. Good eating.]

Talking of good eating. I think nothing tastes better than a BBQ after a great Florida day. All our villas have BBQs. Free upon request.   So here's another opportunity to save money - and have fun. Stop by the markets and pick up some prepared meats, some veggies and a salad, and voila! A wonderful dinner with almost no effort and huge savings... ... don't try this in a hotel room ...!

Low cost car rentals

Consistent with a cheap vacation, driving here is best. Bring lots of stuff too. I know I-75 and I-95 are boring - endless black strips of pavement and identical pine tree stands. But once you are here there are lots of advantages to having your own vehicle.

[hot tip: check with your auto insurer that rental cars are covered - then decline the insurance. Even the Federal Trade Commission recommends you don't take this. Bring proof of insurance - they don't often ask but they might! [you will not be surprised to know our car rental subcontractor is not happy with this advice!]]

The best prices on attraction tickets

I have already broken the bad news. Attraction tickets are not cheap and there are no big legitimate discounts.

Now, it's true that attraction tickets are used as "come ons" [aka bait] for a variety of sales presentations. And you might decide it a good trade off for your time to sit through one of these sales pitches or sales tours in return for some tickets.

Only you can make that call. Just don't buy anything! I'm trying to save you money here. [for example, did you know that 60% of the cost of some time shares is sales costs? How much do you think it will be worth the instant you sign for it?]
